Articles Ultima Online -> UO Assist - Installation and description.UO Assist - Installation and description.
UO Assist – is a auxiliary program which can provide and help you into your gaming process. The best Ultima Online servers recommend using UO Assist because it is much more helpful and functional than other programs. In fact it is very easy to use it and this program can’t damage your system. Many players can’t think how they will play now without UO Assist.
Let's starts!
The registration of UO Assist.
Once UO Assist launch, it will work in demo mode, and most of the functions will not work. To avoid such errors after you run in the bottom right corner click on the "?" Button, Then in the window that appears, click "Registration" and use this serial code to apply registration:
"tN2qD8,$MEd8,=je,4XrG,V}}9d,2fK]j,[Tu~,TXYK,+r".
Attention! The registration number that you copied should not contain quotes!
Then you should turn off the UO Assist "Automatic updates" (because update takes a long time and after it UO Assist can working with some errors).
To turn of the "Automatic updates" you should:
1) Create a shortcut to UO Assist
2) Right-click to UO Assist shortcut and select "Properties". At the end of "Target" line (witch can be contain some address (for example: "C:/Games/Ultima Online/UOAssist/UOAssist.exe")) and without quotes you should add some following values:
"/NoPatch /JustLaunch /LaunchUO /JustUpdated". If you do it right, you will see something like this:
"C:/games/Ultima online/UOAssist/UOAssist.exe" /NoPatch /JustLaunch /LaunchUO /JustUpdated
Attention, the path to the file must be in quotes!
3) Now if you start UO Assist through this shortcut the "Automatic updates" will be turned off.
Congratulations! Now you have a fully functional program, but we still don’t finish.
And we still have a big and interesting question "How to use it?".
This is actually quite easy and can't take a long time.
The results of using it you will find in the first minutes, and if you know English the play Ultima Online with UO Assist will give you a real pleasure.
Use tick off for enabled or disabled UO Assist functions.
Let's begin with the first tab (Common). This is the main tab and it’s made especially for configure the Ultima Online and the UO Assist:
- Show names of incoming people/creatures: This feature works much like 'allnames' but it is automatic. When a new person/creature comes into view UOAssist will 'ask' for its name to be placed above it. Casting spells and a few other actions cause show names to trigger as well. So if someone has been on the screen for awhile and their name appears above them something happened that caused UOAssist to think they just arrived.
- Auto show corpse names: Like show names of incoming people but for corpses.
- Warn of reagents on ground: If you are approaching a reagent lying on the ground you will see a message giving you the general direction the reagent can be found. Sometimes it is hard to find the reagent even with this help. It is just a warning/notice that some are in the area.
- Replace pathfinding with 'follow cursor': If you double right click with this option on your 'avatar' will move toward the cursor even when the right mouse button is up. To have it stop following simply click the right button again. (NOTE: if you move the mouse outside of the game window your avatar won't follow it any longer)
- Reveal hidden power words: With this enabled UOAssist attempts to redirect the lines following the power words of a spell many use to hide what spell they are casting. This feature is somewhat dependant on how the information comes to the client. But it works 95% or more of the time for most people.
- Auto respond to GM mark: When on (checked) it will automatically respond with Yes or Cancel (whichever you set) when a GM craftsperson creates an exceptional item. The dialog will not even appear.
- Stay on top: Enabling this will make UOAssist 'float' on top of other windows so you can see it easily. This is helpful if you are running UO windowed and have it covering much of your screen but still want to see UOAssist.
- Global settings. With this set many of the options that are not user specific like arm settings... will be shared across characters.
- Range check last target: If on any time last target is used UOAssist will check to see if the target is within 'range'. Can help when casting spells and using the 800x600 client.
- Queue self/last target: When of it will 'queue' a last/self target if you press the hotkey before the target cursor appears. Only one can be 'queued' at a time. So if you hit last target and then hit target self - the target self will be in the 'queue' and will be used when the next target cursor appear. There is a clear target queue command that will remove whatever is 'queued' at the time.
Filters
- Bard's Music: If you don't want to hear musical instrument sounds enable this option.
- Spirit speak: Enable this option if you don't want to hear spirit speak.
- Pack sound: Enable this option to filter out pack sounds. NOTE: SoundBlaster owners if you are having crash problems when arming or disarming or casting after disarming it is suggested you enable this feature.
- Horse sound: Enable this to talk in peace when your horse is nearby.
- Snow display: Turn this on before entering an area that has snow storms and you won't see them. If your game is slowed down when entering snow storms I suggest trying this, otherwise snow adds atmosphere.
- Cast's, dogs, sheep: Filters out the sounds (or at least most of them) for those animals.
Attention! before you start to change something you should refresh the count of your resources by pressing the "Count Resources" button (you can find this button in tab "Resources"). Also you can do it by pressing "Num Lock" in your keyboard.
Next tab is "Arm".
On this tab, you can select different variants of things in your halberd. For example: A sword and shield, or just only a pike. This function also allows putting these items in separate bags, so that in your backpack was not very mess.
How to use all these functions?
To get started, put all the necessary items for the first combination in your hands, such as sword and shield.
Then on the tab "Arm" you can see the "Right hand item". Now the value is "No item set". Just click at the value line and select "Use Current Item". Use the same steps for the "Left hand item".
Now all those things that you put in you hands were marked.
To the right of these lines there is a subgroup called "Status", there are only two lines.
The first line conforms to your character right hand and the second line conforms to your character left hand. If you put in your hand some weapon or a shield, one of these lines will changed to "Full". And if you don't put anything the value of these lines is "Empty"
If you look to the right of these lines, you may see some list called "Settings for" and subparagraphs: "Main", "Alternative", "Alternative 2" and "Alternative 3". It is a number of your combinations. For example: for a "Main" combination you can use a sword and a shield, and for the "Alternative" combination you can use some bow.
Btw, if you have a two-handled weapon in your hands, the most of them will indicate in the "Left hand item". For avoid some mistakes between the switching of weapons, you should clear the "Right hand item" line (you can do it by right click on this line, then "Clear Item"). If you don’t do it in time maybe during battle you will find some pick in you right hand =) During the PVP it will be very unpleasant, perhaps even fatally.
So, when we have finished combinations of this paragraphs, we can go to the last line called "Bag to disarm into" (you can find it below). This bag means some container where you can put weapons or shields after you use the command "disarm". Below you can find the description of command "disarm". If you have items in your hands and try to arm, it will not take the current items out of your hands first even if they aren't the desired items. You must disarm first.
To set up the bag where you can put these items, use: right click on this box "Bag to disarm into" from the menu that appears, select "Set disarm bag", then in the Ultima Online, select a bag what you want to use for disarm some items from your hands.
Attention! This bag must be placed in your backpack and nowhere else! Otherwise, all things will disarm in your backpack. For all combination you can select only one bag.
You can use some special "Keys" to change combinations of weapons and disarmament.
To set up these keys go to tab "Keys", and in the list of "Features" find the item "Arm", to the right of this list, you may find a line "Hotkey". Then just click on this line and press any button which you want to use as "Armed" combination. Item "Arm" corresponds to a combination of "Main", items "Arm Alternative", "Arm Alternative 2" and "Arm Alternative 3" corresponds to combinations "Alternative", "Alternative 2" and "Alternative 3". Then you can see the command "Disarm", disarmament and "Disarm Left Hand". Attention! If you pressing command "disarm" the first item will remove from your right hand! Then if you press it again also will remove from your left hand. If you want to remove the object only from your left hand, you also need to set a hot key for this operation.
For each command should be only one hotkey!
Switch to the tab "Dress". Just put on some armor or clothes, then at the right side choose the paragraph what you want to use and press a button "Save what is currently being" worn".
This combination means the things what you put on yourselves now. On the left side’s list you may find all things specified for this combination.
At the bottom you can see a paragraph called "Bag to undress into" - a bag to store things (the things that you can dress off). It can be installed with the same way as in the previous case. And the same for all combinations. Hotkeys also can be set with the same steps as tab "Arm", where the command "Dress" corresponds to a combination of "Main".
Command "Undress" mean to undress and put off all the things to the bag that you set. "Remove Hat" and "Remove rings/Earrings" mean put on and put off the rings earrings or hat. The last option is very useful. So often is very difficult to remove the jewellery by mouse, especially if your character has a long hair.
Go to the tab "Keys", you may find many interesting commands that you can use with different key combinations. There you can set up the key for every command. To do it, just select the command in "command list", and click to the line "Hotkey:" and set the hot key that you want to use for this command.
If you check the Pass on to UO box after UOAssist looks at the key it will pass it on to Ultima Online for processing. Its usefulness has yet to be seen but the option is there if needed. When a feature is selected, pressing the Clear Key button will as named. If you assign the same key to more than one feature only one of the features will be executed. Currently UOAssist doesn't check if a key is assigned to more than one function so beware.
The Use shift-ESC to close 'gumps' isn't much help now that you can change the close gumps feature in UO to whatever key you'd like. For this feature to work you'd have to set UO to use ESC to close gumps.
UOAssist can record and play simple macros. Currently it will record and play using skills, casting spells, speaking, using items, and targeting items/creatures or areas on the map.
The Macro Page
To record a macro press the record button (or use the hotkey, default is Home), then do the actions you wish to add to the macro. When you have finished press record again to stop recording. UOAssist doesn't record time delays often needed between actions so you'll have to add them manually. To do so select the action/command in the command box. Then press the Pause After button and enter the amount of milliseconds to delay (1000 milliseconds = 1 second). It is best to use a generous delay but don't put them right before a target or menu command. Pauses will reduce load on the server and also will succeed more often. Currently the only way to make a macro is to record it. Macros automatically save on exit. Use the name box to keep straight what the macro does. The left box beneath the command list will display timeouts that occur while playing a macro. If your macro contains a target command UOAssist has to wait for the server to tell UOAssist it is ok to send the target. If the server doesn't respond within the server timeout limit (10 seconds) it causes a timeout. Again make sure you don't put a pause/delay before a target or menu line as this will cause timeout problems and the macro will not function correctly. The right box below the command list shows you if you are recording or playing a macro currently.
The Load Item 'Bag' feature is a bit tricky. It is used so if the item you are using, say a shovel to mine with, breaks during macro play it will use another shovel from a virtual bag UOAssist creates. To use the feature select a Use Item command in the command list, then press the Load Item 'Bag' button. Now open all containers on you that have the EXACT type of item as the Use Item command recorded you using. If UOAssist sees you open a container with the same type of items it will place them in this virtual bag and a count will be displayed after Use Item in the command list. If all of the items in a 'bag' are destroyed the macro will stop playing automatically.
Delete Line - deletes the current selected line WHEN enabled.
Stack bandages - when this is checked UOAssist will try to stack bandages that are put in your main pack. But due to game mechanics only bandages of the same type stack successfully. When you (or UOAssist) attempts to stack bandages of differing color the bandages fall to the ground. So for best results try to use bandages of the same color always. Or put bandages of differing colors in sub packs to avoid the problem. NOTE: UOAssist does this by making a 'quick macro'. So you'll might notice a delay line displayed in the infobar of UOAssist. The macro moves the bandages then pauses a brief period. If you are running a macro to create the bandages the 'quick macro' that stacks the bandages will happen after the currently playing macro has finished a loop.
Stack ore/fish/logs - when this is checked UOAssist will try to stack those items with like items found on the ground within 2 paces. If the full stack is chosen to be moved then when the move occurs a full stack in your pack will be moved to the ground pile. If single is selected only one item at a time will be moved even if a stack exist in your pack. Try it to see what I mean:) The reason for the full stack is sometimes (once per hour or so) UOAssist might fail to more the ore to the ground. So if you are macroing for a LONG period of time it is possible that your pack would become full. With full stack selected the chance of that happening is very very slim.
The buttons labeled #1 - #16 near the bottom are macro 'slots'. As in macro 1 - 16. UOAssist will save a macro in each slot and you can reload macros easily. The default hotkey for loading a specified macro is Shift-F1 - Shift-F8. When you load a character UOAssist loads macro #1 by default.
Some command lines can be altered to give new functionality. Right click on Target lines and a menu will appear with options. Some items that are used can break or be used up on use. For those items it is a good idea to right click on the 'Use Item' line and convert it to a 'Use Item Type' line.
